I grew up in various towns in and around Dallas. I graduated from Forney High School (at that time Forney only had one) just before moving to Arlington for college. Growing up, I was never really into fitness, in fact, I was on the chubbier side for most of my pre-college years. I always played Baseball, and later began Football, but for whatever reason, I never really cared to develop a Sound Mind or Sound Body through Fitness. It wasn’t until after graduating high school that I began lifting weights for the purpose of further developing myself. Shortly after joining the weight room in college, a friend of mine introduced me to CrossFit and I was instantly hooked. For the next few years, as the CrossFit community and curriculum itself grew, so did my passion for it. Eventually, after introducing as many friends as I could, I decided to pursue coaching/affiliating and began looking for my options. Not long after, I found CrossFit G6 and the rest is history.
Growing up, I had more opportunities than I could choose from, but what I lacked was a DRIVE to pursue any of them. I played Baseball throughout the full year for most of my life, but “lazy” was a common adjective for me. From early childhood through high school, I had always chosen the path that was more or less expected of me. I made good grades and stayed out of trouble (as much as any teenage boy can) but I was never the one to venture out or to explore any creative endeavors. Flash forward to my early college years (there were 7 in total), I began to realize that if I wanted something to happen, or to change, the surest way to accomplish that is to make it happen myself. Coincidentally, this was around the same time I began CrossFit. Since then I have acquired multiple degrees and certifications, I have helped develop multiple small businesses, and I’ve met and married the love of my life not long after buying our first home. I guess you could say things are looking up!
My purpose for coaching is building knowledge, confidence, and purpose in anyone who steps foot inside G6. I wish for everyone to see how simply changing your life can be (simple does not mean easy). Each and every person has their own set of strengths and weaknesses, both mentally and physically, and my goal is to help build on those strengths and destroy those weaknesses.
